【級が上がるごとに色が濃くなる】
令和4年2月20日、早朝で寒い中、4年生2名の初段の審査をKIUドーム武道場にて行いました。
この2名は3年間、合気道を続け、当北九州武心館道場の設立に尽力して下さいました。今回の昇段審査は、九国国際大学合気道同好会（北九州武心館道場）出身初の初段審査です。昇級・昇段審査は、本来、8級から始まり、1級、仮初段、初段と言う順番でありますが、お2人の普段の稽古の努力と成果が認められ、飛び級での審査が認められました。
今回は、新型コロナウイルスの感染状況を鑑み、本来ならば、濱田先生（師範）が道場にお越しになるところを、特別にzoomでの実施となりました。また、zoomでは、海外の武心館道場の先輩方が、応援に駆けつけられ、九国大の道場にもジェフ先生のお弟子さんが来られて、エールを送って下さいました。
濱田先生を始め、昇段審査にご協力下さった皆様に改めて御礼申し上げます。本当にありがとうございました。
今回の審査では、写真撮影を始め、ビデオなどは、禁止されていたため、具体的な様子をご覧になることができませんが、ご容赦ください。
審査の内容として、
1) 体捌き、体捌き四股立ち
2) 太刀の四方切り
3) 体捌き横受け身、前方回転（飛び受け身）
4) 杖の四方切り
5) 基本技1〜10教
6) 呼吸技1〜10教
7) 腕立て（足を広げて、胸を地面に近づける）
6) 太刀の八方切り
を行いました。
普段の稽古と雰囲気が異なり、返事をするタイミング（英語で行われた為）や、普段稽古しないことを行ったため、緊張したり戸惑ったりした部分もあったそうですが、ハプニングもなく終えることができました。
お二人とも、無事、初段を允可されました。これからは、黒帯の仲間入りということで、袴を履くことになります。しかし、ジェフ師範曰く、黒帯が「始まり」とのことで、合気の道は、まだまだ先が長そうです。
改めて、Yukaさん、Kumaさん、初段おめでとうございます。ご卒業が目前ではありますが、これからも顔を見せて頂けると嬉しいです。

On February 20, 2022, in the cold early morning, two fourth-year students had their shodan examinations at the Bushin Kan of Kitakyushu Budojo.
These two students have been practicing aikido for over three years and have been instrumental in establishing the Bushinkan Dojo of Kitakyushu. This was the first shodan examination for the Kyushu International University Aikido Club ( Bushin Kan Dojo of Kitakyushu). Normally, the order of promotion starts with 10-kyu, up through 1-kyu, provisional shodan, and shodan, but the efforts and results of the two students’ intensive training were recognized, and they were allowed to skip grades.
In light of the new Coronavirus outbreak, Hamada Sensei (Hanshi) who would normally have come to the dojo, decided to hold the event via Zoom. In addition, senior students from Bushin Kan dojo overseas (U.S.A – Norfolk, Va and Portland, OR, also Chile) attended via Zoom to support the event, and a senior outside student of Jeff Sensei’s came to the dojo at Kyushu International University to cheer us on.
I would like to thank Hamada Sensei and everyone who helped with the promotion examination. Thank you very much.
During the examination, photography and video were not allowed, so please forgive me if you can’t see the details of the examination.
The content of the judging included
1) Body turns, body turns in horse stance, body turns with backward and sideward
breakfalls
2) Body turns in four directions with a bokuto, then with a jo
3) Forward aerial breakfalls
4) Basic techniques 1 to 10
6) Breath techniques 1-10
7) Assessment of ki: Push-up position with strikes applied to their back
8) Body turns in four directions with jo
The atmosphere was different from their usual practice, and there was some nervousness and confusion because of the timing of the responses (because it was done in English) and because they were doing things they don’t usually practice, but they were able to finish without any problems.
Both of them received their Shodan. While kneeling and with their heads down Hamada Sensei presented the Miyamoto Musashi bokuto ceremoniously and pronounecd them shodan in aikijujutsu/aikido. They are now black belts and will be wearing hakama. However, according to Shihan, a black belt is just the beginning, and the path of Aiki still has a long way to go.
Once again, congratulations to Yuka and Kuma on their first dan. Although your graduation is just around the corner, we hope to see you again in the future.
